Srinagar, Jan 23 (KNO): The Balidan Stumb at Pratap Park in Srinagar is set to become a focal point on Republic Day (January 26), as the officials, including the Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Surinder Kumar Choudhary are expected to visit and pay floral tributes to the martyrs. The venue has been secured and public entry to the Balidan Stumb has been prohibited for the high-profile visit on January 26. Reliable sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the officials, including Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, will likely begin the Republic Day celebrations by “offering tributes” at the memorial before proceeding to Bakshi Stadium for the main flag-hoisting ceremony. However, the final schedule has not been confirmed yet regarding whether the Deputy CM will first visit the Balidan Stumb or later, but his visit has been finalized. Moreover, the officials have been reviewing preparations at Balidan Stumb ahead of Republic Day. Today, a rehearsal parade was also conducted at the venue to ensure all arrangements are in place for the commemorative event. Notably, the Republic Day celebrations in Srinagar are expected to draw notable attention, with tributes to martyrs being a key part of the occasion at the heart of Srinagar, Lal Chowk. Meanwhile, the security in and around Lal Chowk has been boosted, with paramilitary troops and officers deployed at Balidan Stumb to ensure safety for the high-profile visit—(KNO)
